Aluminum foil jumbo roll refer to the semi-finished products of aluminum foil that are continuously rolled by rolling mills and wound onto reels, featuring extremely wide widths and long lengths. They serve as raw materials for downstream processing enterprises such as container factories and packaging factories. Only after further slitting, forming, and printing do they become the final products we see in our daily lives.

Aluminum foil is not made of pure aluminum but is formed into alloys by adding small amounts of other elements to achieve better mechanical properties and processing characteristics. The most commonly used alloy series are 1xxx (pure aluminum series) and 8xxx (other element series). The following table shows the commonly used aluminum foil alloys and their applications.

Aluminum foil has a wide range of uses, and the selection of its alloys mainly depends on the required strength, formability, corrosion resistance and thermal conductivity. Among them, the packaging field is the largest application area of aluminum foil, mainly used for protecting products and extending their shelf life.

① Flexible Food Packaging

Specific applications: Snack bags (potato chips, nuts), inner packaging for chocolate/candies, dairy product lid films (yogurt), retort pouches, etc.

Alloys: 1xxx series (such as 1145, 1235) / 8xxx series (such as 8079), with purity up to over 99.45%, non-toxic and harmless, meeting food contact standards (FDA). Excellent ductility, easy to roll to extremely thin thicknesses (such as 6-7μm), and with good barrier properties.

② Pharmaceutical Packaging

Specific Applications: Tablet blister foil packaging (PTP Blister Foil), pharmaceutical aluminum-plastic caps, etc.

Alloy: 8xxx series (such as 8011, 8079): This series is based on the 1xxx series and contains additional elements like iron (Fe), which results in better strength and anti-puncture performance, and is able to better protect the medicine from moisture and light exposure.

③ Tobacco Packaging (Cigarette Packaging)

Specific Application: Inner Wrapping Paper for Cigarettes

Alloy: 1xxx series (e.g. 1235): Exhibits excellent moisture-proof and fragrance-retention properties, and has a smooth surface, making it suitable for high-speed packaging machines.

④ Food Containers

Specific applications: Food containers (meal boxes, baking trays), can lids, etc.

Alloys: 3xxx series (such as 3003, 3004) / 8xxx series (such as 8011): Higher strength, with excellent deep drawing performance (Deep Drawing), can be stamped into various shapes of containers without being prone to cracking.
